My guess would be that something that is kept in the tank, and fed leaves by the looks of it, escaped and decided to dine upon the plant nearby.
Diagnosis: a stick insect, presumably when young and small, has escaped from the tank and gorged itself on the rubber plant...if you look carefully at the image under 'culprit' you should be able to see it.
